Thanksgiving Poverty Dinner

This evening we hosted a Poverty Dinner. Students learned about the global disparity in food security.

They also learned some facts about world hunger. Those seated on the floor represent the 60% of people in poverty who only got rice. Those seated on chairs are the 25% struggling to get by, but can provide for their families in rough circumstances. These few got rice and beans.

This lucky individual represents the top 15% of people who do not have to worry about their next meal. The top level got rice, beans, and chicken.

THANKS-giving Bulletin Board

Thank you for everyone who participated in writing down something you are thankful for to beautify this Thanksgiving board. It is important to take a few moments  in our busy lives to stop and evaluate what you are truly thankful for. It is also important to do this during other times in the year. My challenge to you is instead of texting someone, call them and tell them how much you appreciate having them in your life. Check out this bulletin board to see what things your fellow wingmates are thankful for.
