Emotional Intelligence Bulletin Board

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the ability to identify and manage your own emotions and the emotions of others.

It is generally said to include three skills:

1. Emotional awareness, including the ability to identify your own emotions and those of others;

2. The ability to harness emotions and apply them to tasks like thinking and problems solving;

3. The ability to manage emotions, including the ability to regulate your own emotions, and the ability to cheer up or calm down another person.

For more information on emotional intelligence, look at this bulletin board just outside room 229.

Fright Fest

Fright Fest is Pickard Hall’s annual charity fundraiser since 1985. It features a haunted trail behind Pickard Hall, where the residents of Pickard scare participants. Fright Fest also includes 2 escape rooms, refreshments and a way for members of the Campus and Platteville communities to partake in the Halloween spirit for a good cause. We raised $500 this year! All proceeds will be donated to the Hodan Community Services of Mineral Point.

Thank you to all the trail actors/actresses, makeup artists, food prep, and all others who played a role into making this year’s Fright Fest a huge success!

Stand Up Saturday

At Stand Up Saturday, UW-Platteville welcomed comedian Andrew Sleighter. Prior to the event the 2ND floor of Pickard wenthe to eat at the Haus and play card games before the show. Thank you to everyone who attended and shared a good laugh.

Emotional Abuse Bulletin Board

Emotional abuse is any act including confinement, isolation, verbal assault, humiliation, intimidation, or any other treatment which may diminish the sense of identity, dignity, and self-worth.

Emotional abuse can happen to anyone at any time in their lives. Children, teens and adults all experience emotional abuse. And emotional abuse can have devastating consequences on relationships and all those involved. Just because there is no physical mark doesn’t mean the abuse isn’t real and isn’t a problem or even a crime in some countries.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard

The world’s top bodyguard gets a new client, a hit man who must testify at the International Court of Justice. They must put their differences aside and work together to make it to the trial on time.

What better way to relax from the first round of exams than to watch a fast-paced action and comedy movie? I am currently taking suggestions for movies to show for a movie night. If you have any please let me know.

NCAA Heartbreak

It was heartbreaking to see the Badgers get knocked out on such an intense note. This picture is as the Badgers scored the three pointer to take the lead. Only to be crushed and the Wildcats losing in similar fashion later that weekend. It did well at building relationships as we all got together for sports once again.
